David P. Dumas
David Dumas, Ph.D. completed his graduate
studies at Texas A&M in the Department of Chemistry before joining
the staff of Scripps Clinic and Research Institute in La Jolla,
CA. Dr. Dumas transitioned
out of academia in 1990 when he joined Gensia Pharmaceuticals, an
earlier stage biopharmaceutical company in San Diego. As Gensia grew to a
500-employee company, Dr. Dumas’s responsibilities also grew while
managing the Biochemistry and Cell Biology Departments. His research at Gensia focused
on therapeutics for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Dr. Dumas was recruited
to lead the research program for a start-up US pharmaceutical
subsidiary of the Korean conglomerate, LG. As head of Research, Dr. Dumas piloted LG Biomedical
Institutes drug discovery programs in Alzheimer’s disease, infectious
diseases, and oncology. In
2000, Dr. Dumas founded ProtoPharm, a vaccine company built upon
discovery technology invented by Dr. Dumas. Turning attention to defense technologies, he
founded Amaratek in 2003 to develop functional polymers and dielectric
sensors. Dr. Dumas was
co-founder of Centro para la Integracion de la Innovacion Tecnolgica
(Center for Technology Innovation) and founder of Paloma Tecnologia AC
in Mexico while serving as a strategic advisor to the government of
Baja California, Mexico.
In addition to economic development work in Mexico, Dr. Dumas
serves on several economic development committees and panels in San
Diego.
Bruno Borganti
Bruno
Borganti, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, (Consulting) has over 20
years experience in sales, market development and executive roles in
the medical device industry where he has enjoyed considerable success
in direct sales as well as in building channel distribution
relationships that address regional market nuances in Europe, the US,
and Far East. Bruno is the immediate past international marketing
leader for Fisher Scientific, and has had leadership roles in marketing
with Mallinckrodt and other major medical device companies.
Marcus Carr, M.D., Ph.D.
Marcus Carr, M.D., Ph.D., is the Chairman and Chief
Science Officer of Hemodyne. He is currently a Professor of Internal
Medicine and Pathology at MCV and Professor of Biomedical Engineering
at VCU. Dr. Carr is a recognized expert in the field with more than 20
years experience in the study of blood and coagulation. He speaks
regularly at national and international medical conferences and has
published more than 80 articles. In addition to the Hemodyne
technology, Dr. Carr holds a number of additional patents and is
responsible for expanding the company's technology base.
Erika Martin
Erika
Martin, MT, ASCP, Director of Clinical Research, is a certified Medical
Technologist and has over 15 years experience in clinical and research
settings, including leadership roles in numerous clinical studies. She
is responsible for coordinating activity at the clinical trial sites
and is involved with clinical data analysis. Ms. Martin received her
Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Baylor University and
graduate degree in Medical Technology.
