Bethesda, Maryland (April 4, 2005) - Hemodyne, an emerging leader in hemostasis and coagulation testing, announced today that company founder, Marcus Carr, MD PhD, will join Novo Nordisk, the highly regarded Danish pharmaceutical concern, as Chief Medical Officer for North America.  He will have the additional title of Executive Director for Clinical Research-Hemostasis Group for North America.  Novo Nordisk has the flagship Hemophilia drug in the world, Novo 7, and is a worldwide market leader in diabetes care.

In this new role, Dr. Carr will be responsible for clinical development in hemostasis and related areas.  As part of his agreement with Novo Nordisk, he will continue his active involvement with Hemodyne as a Board member until August 2006. Additionally, Dr. Carr will continue to provide consultation services to the Company during this period.  “We have worked diligently in Hemodyne to bring our first product to market and are excited by the enthusiastic response from clinical opinion leaders throughout the world.  Novo Nordisk’s support for my commitment to Hemodyne was an essential element of my decision to accept this opportunity.  I remain committed to Hemodyne’s success.”

“Marc is recognized internationally as a world leader in Hematology,” said Devinder Bawa, Hemodyne’s President and CEO. “His unparalleled understanding of the intricacies of coagulation puts him absolutely at the top of the field.  For years, Marc has toiled at his craft, saving lives and helping one patient at a time.  His service has earned him the respect of patients and medical students alike.  We are delighted that he is taking this opportunity where he can apply his unique talents to helping broad clinical populations.  We are equally delighted that we will have the opportunity to continue to work closely with Marc as we commercially launch the technology that he developed.  We have been working closely with the people at Novo Nordisk for several years and know first hand their commitment to quality, innovation and patient service.  This will be a great partnership.”  Hemodyne’s work with Novo Nordisk has revolved around Novo 7, which has also been shown in preliminary studies to be highly effective in treating hemorrhagic stroke and bleeding related to trauma.

Dr. Carr will join his new position in mid-March and will be based at the Novo Nordisk North American headquarters in Princeton, N.J.
